My first was a Ed Schempp Persian... Well made, very sharp, I was hooked right away...It's one of the only two of my knives that's engraved, it has my name on the blade, the other was a gift from my girlfriend, a Scorpius. (The knife, I'm not saying that's her zodiac sign)
my first spydie was a d-1 fs that a friend gave me and i used the living shit out of that knife! never once failed me, but it's now retired and living in my knife case. my second and one of my favorites was an original velie fs. thought it was too nice and special to carry much and it resides right next to the delica in the case.
My first was a Yellow Tasman Salt SE. I my buddy had been interested in Spyderco for several years before he convinced me to buy one. I originally used my benchmade griptilian for everything. I was curious about the H-1 steel, and had never had a hawkbill blade before this time. I am an avid lake goer and wanted a knife that could go with me, so he suggested a salt and it was all over from there.
my first was the one I still carry in the rotation - old school FRN clip Endura. broke the clip off years back and sent it in and Spyderco ground off the stub and screwed a metal clip on. Since then, I had ordered a couple of those clips to repair the other ones that would break. I modified my other FRN clip Endura to be a left hand clip and now I carry a brace of them :) That first one is about 1/4 inch shorter after 20 years of sharpening and work on the fire department.
My first Spyderco was the USN Endura.. Mike and I have been friends for a really long time, and he and his dad are longtime Spyderco fans, so the company has always been on my radar, but until it took owning my own to get hooked. Getting a Manix 2 really got me hooked, because while I love my Endura, I don't really love FRN.
Of course my one and only favorite the co7s Police model....come on!!! cant show that knife to anyone with them saying "wow" thats a special awesome knife, just something about it....also, in the movie "Training Day" check youtube alley scene you will see denzels character pull out the police model and rub it on the crack heads nose.... you clearly see it a fully serrated police model....just awesome!!
I was always a Kershaw and Benchmade kinda guy; never really liked Spyderco because of the lockback mechanism. After trying out first the Native III, then the caly3, then a Tenacious, and another Native (stainless handle), i can say i'm a Spyderco fan.
