My first was a Ed Schempp Persian... Well made, very sharp, I was hooked right away...It's one of the only two of my knives that's engraved, it has my name on the blade, the other was a gift from my girlfriend, a Scorpius. (The knife, I'm not saying that's her zodiac sign)

The Spyderco Harpy -- I do a lot of fishing and (used to) deal with rope on a regular basis, so 'Ole Harp has been a constant companion. Wouldn't recommend it for every-day cutting, but it gets the job done as a specialized blade.

This blade certainly began my addiction: it's durable, and the design is just beautiful. All of Spyderco's blades have something unique about them that I can't seem to find elsewhere, and this is precisely why I prefer to carry them.

Glad to be here on ST, as it's great to find a community who shares my interest in these brilliant blades!
My first Spyderco was a Delica 4 with pink FRN i love that knife, but now around 2000$ dollars worth of spydercos later its harder to decide what to carry!
My first was a Micarta Calypso Jr. Man, that was a nice knife. It was so nice, I have one of each in plain and serrated. It's been downhill ever since.
Well I actually had eyed a spyderco for the longest time, but never really "needed" a knife or any sort since I was in school and very busy; so I never actually got into it till early this year. But Spyderco has always intrigued me with the spydie hole, I am a sucker for the unique, and "road off the beaten path", if you will. Yes spyderco is a huge company, but among my friends and such they thought it was weird, it kind of all looked the same etc, you guys all heard it before. But I finally pulled the trigger when I saw the black on black pacific salt. I was like wow that size folder, and impervious to rust!, I got it, it was a "lemon", TOTALLY not centered [enough to close and rub on the side wall causing wear on the coating, and was extremely dull]. But I still played with it, it was great to play with, and as I looked around more, I found the sages, thats when it really hit me. The first one was like a jab to the ribs, the sages was like a hyorouken uppercut. I loved the idea behind giving homage to these makers of various locks, and having them come in various materials also, was a great idea TO start a collection. And the rest is history. [I am a collector by nature, I started out with x men cards, then pokemon cards, and basketball/baseball cards, then I stopped collecting much of anything, and now knives :p]
My first spidies were the delica's. I took DFK from Insights Training Center about 7 years ago and have rarely been without 1 in each pocket since. I then picked up a green Lum Chineese folder but soon gifted it to my brother about 6 years ago. I have recently been bitten again and have since purchased a sprint Lum and a Gayle Bradley. Looking to expand my collection with a Manix, Para, Sage, Leaf Storm, Urban, well you get the picture.
I know this is an old thread, but as a new member here I thought I'd give it a go. My first Spyderco was a Wayne Goddard Jr. with black scales. I wish I would have purchased a full size one. Unfortunately it has gotten harder to open over the years even with lubrication. I wonder if Spyderco would give it a tune-up?

Might as well keep an old thread going ...

I started with a Spyderco Worker about 15 years ago.  I still have it, although there isn't much blade left.

Well it has to be the SS Police CE. But the first Spyderco I really appreciate was the Caly3 CF, that knife still has a special place in my heart.

G.

My first was the Worker, must have been around 1990. I still have it.
My addiction started with a camo military. I have had a Wayne Goddard Jr. full serration in mint condition for about 15/20 years, never carried or used. Used to think of spyderco knives as being like the flea market knock offs for some reason. Never really held or used any other models until recently. Probably would have been better for my bank account if I hadn't!
